Some people are fortunate to have a very active immune system that protects effectively from infectious diseases. However, this scenario can cause problems if they have damaged tissue in later life since this is a focus for inflammatory disease.
Being overweight can lead to the body entering a pro-inflammatory state (as judged by a high CRP count in your blood results). There is then a double jeopardy for example on hip and knee joints where extra weight causes mechanical stress and wear to the joints. Inflammation is triggered and this starts a downward spiral leading to severe problems and reduced mobility.
As always the answer is to try to maintain a healthy body weight and undertake regular exercise. Note for some intensive exercise that includes repeated impact to joints (running on a hard surface) can lead over years to excessive wear and tear and local inflammation.
Moderation is key and regularity.
