The 'God question' series has a whole section devoted to the subject of mind, body and soul. Many views are expressed there and it is clearly a burning topic in the world of ideas. Do we have a proper and convincing apologetic regarding the mind/soul? One of the reasons I became interested in the whole topic was to see if there can be an honest way to present evidence to the world of our non-physical nature. There are a few Christian philosophers and thinkers who are doing this but most people are entirely ignorant of such arguments and the majority of Christians prefer not to stray into what seems so mysterious. How do we relate some of this more effectively to the public out there - who seem to be genuinely fascinated? Hosting a showing of the 'God question' DVD on the subject is certainly one way....
When referring to ' the God question' here, I have in mind, not so much the series and more the underlying question of 'what possible light can all we know shine on the evidence for God's existence.
We live in days when atheists excel in purveying the view that science is in the process of dethroning any need for a creator. It seems to me that the limited knowledge we do have of the human mind and brain points to a level of sophistication in how it operates that it is a shadow of the intelligence of the creator. This is not an argument from ignorance and using God as an explanation of what we do not know but is more an inference to the best explanation. How much faith does it take to believe mind emerged exclusively from mindlessness?
